Phife Dawg Has Successful Kidney Transplant

It has been well documented that Phife Dawg has had a long battle with diabetes. However, it looks like he's scored a major blow to the illness by receiving a kidney transplant. This new kidney came after being kept waiting for two years, which in turn led to Phife's drastic weight loss when going through dialysis treatment.
Phife to his own admission, has not taken the best care of himself after being diagnosed with the illness back in 1990. He admitted to eating fatty foods, sugary and starchy foods as well as drinking alcohol, all considered no-no's for diabetics. This led to his body slowly shutting down and by 1992, his blood sugar level reached 1000 mg/dl, well above the 80-120 mg/dl which is considered normal.
All of this bad living lead to him being put on dialysis in 2000. By 2002, he face his first serious stint in the hospital as his diabetes worsened. But now with the kidney transplant performed, he may feel a newfound energy.
Whether that will happen is debatable, but fellow Tribe member Q-Tip is ecstatic over the procedure. “He’s doing great," exclaimed Q-Tip to AllHipHop.com. “He just had a successful kidney transplant so shouts out to Phife diggity dog! That’s my nigga right there.”
