Mos Def - The Ecstatic
I recently bought this cd and I'm really impressed. I was open to Mos' experimentation on The New Danger, but not a big fan of how it was executed, and consequently, only liked about 4-5 songs from that album. True Magic contained a more traditional hip hop approach, but it just seemed to be unfocused and so I was questionable about this new project. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this album is very focused and put together seamlessly. The production is dope, and I think this is some of the best rhyming Mos has done since Black On Both Sides. I would give this album a 4/5.

Melanie Fiona - Somebody Come Get Me Impromptu
I'm sure you've heard of Melanie Fiona by now, known for her popular song, "Give It To Me." However, if you haven't I will give you a pass. Her new album, "The Bridge" comes out August 18th and I'm really anxious to hear it, because for one shes really talented, but also she seems to be an artist that is unconcerned with genre, and thats always refreshing...check out her doing an impromptu acapella version of Somebody Come Get Me...I think she has some REAL potential...
